Liberation of Šťáhlavy

Our last public event of the season took place on Saturday, September 19th, in Šťáhlavy, Czech Republic. We prepared a similar display to that in Myslív last month but we added an extra flysheet, which allowed us to show more items from our collections, including some new acquisitions such as a 1940s Silvertone radio. The town of Šťáhlavy was liberated by the U.S. 2nd Infantry Division on May 7th, 1945. The so-called X-Platoon consisting of African-American soldiers was part of Company C, 9th Infantry Regiment. This unit was proudly represented by our friends from KVH Tommy & Yankee z.s. Plzeň, who once again gave us the opportunity to share the camp with them. We had a lot of visitors during the day and we also did a live stream on our Instagram

- if you missed it, you can still watch the recording at @armynursecorpsinww2. We're sure going to miss events like this!
