"Aviatická pouť" Air Show
The last weekend of May was marked by aerobatics and planespotting. We headed to Pardubice – a Czech city that hosts a famous air show called Aviatická pouť. We prepared a small display dedicated to nurses serving on board aircrafts, specifically the 801st Medical Air Evacuation Squadron assigned to the 13th Air Force, which operated in the Pacific. In 1944, this unit was stationed on the island of Guadalcanal, from where it flew evacuation flights. The most commonly used planes for air evacuation during World War II were the C-47 Skytrain, C-46 Commando and C-54 Skymaster. Unfortunately, not a single one of them was present in Pardubice, but that doesn't mean we didn't manage to see any warbirds. Chance Vought F4U Corsair (1945), Lockheed P-38 Lightning (1944), North American B-25J Mitchell (1945) were all there and presented wonderfully. We even managed to enter the last one! All those beauties belong to The Flying Bulls team from Austria. A British Hawker Sea Fury was also present and made quite an impression.
Enjoy the photos and in less than a month we are off to another event in Czechia – Historical Airshow Mladá Boleslav!
